If you've already created a TalkTalk email address and you'd like to use it with your iPhone to send, receive and manage your TalkTalk emails, this guide will help you.

What is an iPhone?

An iPhone is a handheld mobile device created by Apple. It enables you to manage multiple applications, such as your emails. So you can access your emails on the go.

Before you start

Before you start setting up your TalkTalk email on your iPhone, please ensure that you:

  • Have a TalkTalk email account - if you don't, please see: How do I create a TalkTalk email address?
  • Are connected to the internet
  • Have contacted your iPhone network provider to obtained the email settings you will need

Setting up your iPhone to work with TalkTalk email

To set up your TalkTalk email on your iPhone, follow these steps:

  1. Unlock your iPhone, and make sure that your Wi-Fi connection is off.
  2. Touch Settings and then Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  3. Touch Add Account under the Accounts heading and then touch Other.
  4. Next, touch Add Mail Account under the Mail section.
  5. Enter your name, TalkTalk email address, password for that email address and a description into their respective boxes.
    Note: Your TalkTalk email address ends with @talktalk.net, for example, emailaddress@talktalk.net. Please ensure that you don't enter any spaces and that the email address is exactly as you created it.
  6. Touch Save and wait for the process to complete. Then touch Next.
  7. If you receive an SMTP account verification failed message, touch OK.
  8. Touch Save and wait for the verification process to complete.
  9. Touch No to the Cannot Connect Using SSL message.
  10. Touch Save and Save again.
  11. On the Accounts screen, touch your TalkTalk account. Then scroll to Outgoing Mail Server and touch SMTP.
  12. Select the smtp server for your iPhone network provider.
    Note: If your provider is not in the list you will need to add it. To find out how to do this, contact your iPhone network provider.
  13. Touch SMTP and select Primary Server. Then slide Server to OFF and touch SMTP.
  14. Locate your iPhone network account and tap it once. Ensure Server is set to ON.
  15. Touch SMTP in the top left-hand corner.
  16. Touch the account name in the top left-hand corner.
  17. Ensure that your iPhone network account is set as the Outgoing Mail Server.
  18. Touch Mail name in the top left-hand corner and then exit from your settings.

Your iPhone is now set up to send and receive your TalkTalk emails. You can send yourself an email to check if it's working correctly
